It's so hard to find the one and only! Tabletop Electric Grill and other varieties
The huge range of electric grills is due not only to the wide range of their applications, but also constant improvement of devices based on consumer needs.
The devices allow you to bake meat, fish, vegetables, cook waffles, and defrost food.
Types of Electric Grills
Grills powered by the mains are manufactured in various modifications.
Mobile portable or large built-in models, open and closed grills - depending on the area of use, one or another type of device is used.
Unites all devices using infrared heating for cooking. Otherwise, electric grills are divided into many types according to a number of technical parameters.
Device type: portable and stationary
According to this point, electric grills are divided into two groups:
- portable — the devices are mobile and can be installed anywhere, provided they are connected to the network (most of them are like this) domestic electric grills);
- stationary — are placed in a specially designated work area, the structures are heavy (as a rule, such grills are used in the kitchens of cafes and restaurants).
Installation method: tabletop and floor
The dimensions of the electric grill determine the following classification parameter: installation method:
- Tabletop models — these are compact devices that are suitable for convenient placement in a home kitchen or for transportation to the country.
- Floor models — more voluminous and, as a rule, equipped with special legs, which implies their installation on the floor. Such devices are suitable for cooking at an outdoor picnic.

Heat treatment method: contactless, lava, contact, double-sided press grills
The type of location of the heating element relative to the products determines the types of modern electric grills according to the method of heat treatment.
Contactless grills are devices that do not involve direct interaction between products and a heating source. Most contactless devices are made in "cabinet" variations:
- Skewer type — food is placed on spits that move along the axis with the help of an electric drive.
- Carousel type — the products are in baskets that rotate along a given trajectory.
- Planetary type — is an improved design of a spit and carousel grill: baskets with food rotate on a spit relative to the heating element, which ensures the most uniform roasting.
A separate variety of the contactless grill group is lava rock electric grills. The peculiarity of these devices is that the frying of products occurs with the help of lava rocks heated by an electric heating element (In some models, lava stones can be replaced with pumice.) Lava grills consist of a grate, a tray where the stones are placed, and a heating element located underneath them.

The essence of thermal processing of food in contact electric grills - interaction of the product with a heated surface made of glass ceramics or metal, covered with a non-stick layer. Depending on the type of placement of the heating element, models of contact electric grills are divided into 3 groups:
- Single sided open grills — in such devices, the heating element is located on one side, so the procedure for preparing products requires turning them over.
- Double-sided closed models (press grills) include heating elements in both the upper and lower plates, which allows for a significant reduction in cooking time. An additional advantage of double-sided electric grills is the isolation of smoke and food odor.
- Combined models are designs that provide for the use of a combination of modes: both one-sided and two-sided heating. As a rule, such models are equipped with additional removable panels, which allows you to diversify the range of prepared dishes.
Body position: horizontal and vertical
Segmentation of electric grills by type of case suggests division into the following varieties:
- Horizontal — this includes both contactless and contact models. They involve horizontal placement of the heating surface or spit relative to the heating element on one or both sides.
- Vertical — in most cases, these are contactless models. In such devices, the spit with attachments for products is located vertically relative to the upper and lower heating elements, the temperature of which can be adjusted separately, which simplifies the cooking process if the dishes require different cooking times.

Which type of electric grill should you choose?
Every type of electric grill provides for the presence of certain conditions for its operation, in other words, there is no universal model suitable for domestic, country, and restaurant use at the same time.
Attention! Immediately after cooking, the electric grill must be clear.
If in the cafe kitchen, where large volumes of food are prepared daily, a lava or carousel stationary electric grill will be indispensable, then for home cooking For a small apartment, the ideal option is a compact press grill, which will also isolate smoke and all extraneous odors.
