Choosing a sauna stove

When choosing a stove for a bathhouse It is necessary to rely on the following criteria:

  • Material. Stoves can be made of brick or metal. Most people choose metal ones because they are easy to install and use.

Photo 11

  • Power. When choosing, the main thing is not to make a mistake two main mistakes: choose a low-power or too powerful stove. The power of the stove should be selected individually for the room.
  • Fuel type. The types of stoves that currently exist are wood, gas, electric and mixed. The best option is gas and electric, because they have the fewest disadvantages.
  • Firebox location. An individual approach is required. It is worth noting that with an extended firebox it is possible to heat the steam room from another room.
  • Source of steam. Regular or separate - choose strictly based on the stove model and the features of the room.
  • Form. Three types stoves: rectangular, cylindrical and shaped. Choose according to the location of the stove and the design solution.

Attention! The stoves need to be installed at some distance from the walls baths, it is also recommended to use protective screens to avoid fire.

I installed a rectangular "Taiginka" stove in the bathhouse, it looks pretty good and doesn't take up much space. I don't put a lot of firewood in the stove at once, usually 3-4 small logs, I use 7-8 logs at a time. In 2-2.5 hours the bathhouse already has the required temperature and you can wash and steam yourself. During the bath procedures, I constantly maintain a low flame in the stove. Hot water heats up well in the tank, although I just lean it against the stove.

The Teplodar stoves are certainly beautiful and look good in the bathhouse. But the thickness of the metal is still too small, 4-5 mm. Of course, it heats up faster, but burns out quickly, especially when using firewood as fuel; they would certainly work longer on gas. My neighbor installed one, heated the bathhouse for less than a year, and the stove burned out after 10 months, and then he had to change the stove. He then installed a homemade vertical one made of a pipe with a wall thickness of about 10 mm. He has been using it for 2 years now and has no problems.

I installed the Siberia LK Panorama stove in my sauna - a magnificent stove that will not leave anyone indifferent, it heats up the steam room to 90-100 C° with the damper open in about 40-50 minutes, with the damper closed in about 60 minutes. The stove is quite convenient to use, a wide door that fits even fairly large firewood, after the firewood has completely burned out, it is easy to clean the room with a damper. No loud noises, only the pleasant and soothing crackling of firewood. When water is supplied to the hot stones, only soft steam is felt. I recommend it!

I recently built a sauna and bought a stove called Teplodar Sahara on the recommendation of a friend. The stove is compact and does not take up much space in the sauna. This stove model is available with or without a foaming agent. The Sahara stove is universal and can heat up to 120 degrees. In my opinion, such a stove is the best and most inexpensive option.
  5. Anton
I installed a stove of the "Cascade" series in the bathhouse. After laying the heater, the stove is not visible at all, you can only see the stones and the exhaust pipe comes out of there. In order not to burn yourself on the stove, I built a protective screen of brick around it. Of course, with one load, the temperature does not rise to 100. In the summer, I burn 6 logs so that the bathhouse warms up well, in the winter, of course, more and I do not put a lot of wood at one time, if you put a lot of wood, the stove will quickly burn out, and from the point of view of fire safety, you can not completely fill the firebox with wood.

I bought a Siberia 30 sauna stove. Before buying, I read the description of this stove. I liked that the temperature in the sauna reaches 100–110°C in 30 minutes with one load. But in practice, it takes 3 hours to reach 100 degrees with the ash pit closed and 1.5 hours with the ash pit open. The side sheets (Thermally loaded elements of sauna stoves are made of steel with a chromium content of up to 17%) warped and cracked after 10 months. I had to cut them out and weld in new iron. In addition, the stove makes a bang. If you add firewood, after 40–60 seconds, bang! It starts rattling like a tractor. The stove was installed strictly according to the instructions and has been working for 5 years. The sauna is made of half the bottom, 4 rows of sleepers, the upper rows of timber, the steam room-washing room is 3 by 3 by 2.15, the changing room is 3 by 2 by 2.15.
As a result, the Siberia 30 stove does not meet the stated parameters.
  7. Vladimir
I installed a Sahara stove in the bathhouse, and the first time I fired up the bathhouse, I found out that I had made a mistake by choosing and installing a hot water tank on the exhaust pipe. It turned out that although the stove quickly warms up the bathhouse, by the time the stones are heated up, the water is already boiling like in a samovar. As a result, I had to remove the tank and install a stainless steel pipe instead. But I didn't throw the tank away, I just cut one end of the pipe and attached it to the side of the stove. Now the water gets hot just when the stones are well heated up.
