The device and diagram of the elevator heating unit: why is this device needed?

Photo 1

The elevator unit is used for reduction of coolant temperature, entering the heated room.

This device is very important in apartment buildings, where boilers heat water to excessive values.

What is an elevator unit?

Photo 2

The device is a pump that is placed in heating circuit. It consists of a water chamber, a diffuser and a three-way valve. It is necessarily supplemented shut-off valves and a heat sensor.

The elevator unit is designed to relieve the system from excess pressure and balance the water temperature between consumers.

The coolant comes out of the boiler room, heated up over 100 degrees, which is unacceptable according to building codes and regulations. The device allows the liquid to cool to an acceptable value, after which it distributes it along the piping.

The elevator also provides:

  • Protecting consumers from burns, obtained by touching hot radiators.
  • Protecting pipes from excess pressure.
  • Possibility of using pipes made of plastics and polymers.

The liquid enters preliminary chamber devices from the boiler. Next to the camera is installed diffuser, to which the return branch is connected.

From the last through three-way valve Some of the water moves upward for cooling. The working substance from the boiler cools to the required temperature, after which the preliminary chamber passes it further.

For normal functioning, each part of the system is equipped shut-off valvesA temperature sensor is also installed in the preliminary chamber where the flows are mixed.

The components of the elevator unit perform two functions: water cooling, which also reduces the pressure on the pipes; forced movement of liquid through the system, which makes it unnecessary to install a circulation pump.

The general scheme is shown in the following image.

Operating principle

The design resembles circulation pump, capable of withstanding high temperatures and pressures. The circuit also includes a valve that allows mixing of water from the supply and return pipes.

Operating principle:

  1. The liquid is supplied from heating element into the pre-chamber.
  2. Water is sent into the circuit through diffuserThe latter pre-balances the temperature indicator of the substance.
  3. On the way back the water gets into hydraulic tee, through which part of the liquid returns to the chamber. This is necessary to cool the hot head.

Reference! Most devices have a manual mixing ratio, but there are automated elevators.

Advantages

The device has the following positive qualities:

  • Photo 5

Installation and operation are much more profitable other ways to reduce temperature.
  • Opportunity mixing waste water with fresh water reduces the total amount of coolant in the system.
  • Some parts of the device are powered by hydraulics, but at the same time effective.
  • Low cost device, lack of electrical or fuel supply.
  • Easy installation.

Flaws

The elevator is not able to regulate the temperature of the water circulating in the system between the boiler and the device directly. This problem can be solved in two ways:

  1. Increase the diameter of the pipes, which will lead to a complete restructuring of the heating system.
  2. Reduce the heating power of the boiler, which may disrupt the heating of remote parts of the structure.

Both options are undesirable., which indicates the imperfection of the units. In addition, careful calculations are carried out to place the device. And the pressure difference between the supply and return pipes is also necessarily taken into account.

Important! Due to these features, elevator units are used quite rarely. in private houses, for which there are more effective solutions.

Conclusion

The use of elevators is gradually decreasing, as they have significant disadvantages. And they also have a replacement in the form of modern mixers, possessing the best qualities. The devices are still used because they are inexpensive and fairly easy to install.
