The first option is the most common. in multi-apartment buildings with central heating. Pipes, as you can understand from the term itself, are connected to only one end of the battery, which allows you to use the maximum nominal power of each device. The length of the unit affects the comfort of the atmosphere in the room. With a one-sided connection, the heated water will simply not reach, for example, the fifteenth section.
This is a must taken into account at the stage of selecting the unit and if you need a multi-section model, you will have to give up the one-sided connection.
Used and diagonal pattern (also called cross-connected), which is used with popular bimetallic radiators. Here, the elements are connected according to the usual rule: supply from above, outlet from below, but from opposite ends of the unit. This approach ensures uniform heating of the water and long-term heat retention.
There are buildings with engineering systems where only one connection method is possible - the bottom one. In this case, the supply and outlet are connected to different ends of the device. Of course, this greatly reduces the quality of heat transfer (up to 15%), because the heated coolant does not reach the upper part. That is why radiators with bottom connection are bought mainly for cottages with an individual heating system.

As a rule, the purchased unit with bottom connection is designed for one of several connection methods:
- top down;
- from the center;
- On the one side;
- from different sides.

It is important to remember that in Russia there are almost always problems with heating. The probability that a pipe will burst or a radiator will fail always remains.
If any owner can deal with the breakdown of the upper pipes, even without calling a plumber, then with the lower connection the task becomes more complicated, because the place of the break is hidden under the floor.
Inevitably we'll have to break both the covering and the baseboard, for which workers are sometimes called in. After the trouble is eliminated, all this will have to be restored, which is quite expensive both morally and financially.

A mandatory element for regulating heated water is shut-off and control valves. Their task is to block the heated flow partially or completely. The degree of restriction depends on the parameters of the pre-approved design calculation.
To connect a copper, steel, polymer or metal-polymer pipe to an input, use reinforcement adapters. To secure the device, you will need brackets.

Installing the battery

- They drive in fasteners (according to the number of sections). For a five-section unit it is enough two fasteners, but if sections seven, ten or fifteen, then at least three.
- The unit is installed on a prepared surface.
Attention! With lower eyeliner L-shaped pipe are heated in the floor and filled with mounting foam. However, this is done only at the end of the work and only after the system has been pressure tested.

One circuit heated water flows. Cooled water flows out in a different way. Radiators in this system are connected in parallel. Water of approximately the same temperature flows into each radiator, which ensures uniform heating of all rooms.
Two-pipe system allows you to monitor the temperature level and, if necessary, adjust it. For this purpose, a special valve is installed on the radiator.

What is good about this particular type of device?
To be honest, this type of heating has no special advantages - it used mainly in private homes, and even then, only if the owner values the aesthetics of the interior more than whether it will be warm for the people sitting in the room.
Therefore, if your home allows you to install a different type of device (preferably a side one), there is no need to take risks.
Especially if the installer has no experience in plumbing work - In case of any accident, a special team will have to be called, risking the waiting time to destroy both your own repairs and flood the neighbors living below.
