Is it true that there is no better device for heating a private house? Gas double-circuit boiler, its properties

A double-circuit gas boiler is the best choice for a home, as this reliable and compact device is excellent copes with two tasks at once: heating water for household needs and space heating.

There are two types of boilers: floor-standing and wall-mounted, they are perfect for installation in private homes.

Advantages of gas boilers for heating a two-story private house

Gas double-circuit boilers are characterized by the following advantages:

  1. High efficiency, reaching 95%, thanks to good performance.
  2. Economy — the presence of this type of boiler allows you to save on utilities, even if the consumption of gas and cold water is increased, the amount of payment will be small.
  3. Individual hot water supply - there is no need to purchase and install a separate boiler.

The advantages of double-circuit gas boilers also include: small dimensions, therefore, they will not take up much space in the house and will easily fit into the interior of the hallway or kitchen. Users can regulate the temperature of the coolant and hot water themselves.

Flaws

Despite many advantages, double-circuit gas boilers have their drawbacks too:

  1. Short service life, which is due to the low power. In general, it depends on the manufacturer. The duration of operation is largely influenced by the care of the heat exchanger. This is especially true for floor models, since with frequent use, maximum energy production occurs, which reduces the service life.
  2. Time to warm up the water. Do not expect hot water to flow from the tap immediately. The peculiarity of a gas double-circuit boiler is that it cannot immediately switch to water heating mode. In addition, cold main water will flow from the tap at first. This is a significant disadvantage for those who have a meter installed.

Features of energy-independent double-circuit gas boilers

Double-circuit boilers in comparison with single-circuit models more functional, because they can work simultaneously for hot water supply and heating systems.

There is a certain classification of devices depending on:

  1. Type of combustion chamber and product discharge - closed and open.
  2. Heat exchanger designs - bithermal and separate.
  3. Principles of using combustion products - condensation and convection.

Combustion chambers

All gas double-circuit boilers are divided into 2 categories:

  1. With open combustion chamber. This option provides for gas combustion with the removal of combustion products through a standard chimney. This atmospheric model has a simple design, so it rarely breaks down. In addition, it is distinguished by a reduced noise level.
  2. With closed combustion chamber. They are distinguished by the fact that they do not require a chimney, and installation can be carried out in rooms without ventilation shafts and windows. Thanks to the sealed combustion chamber, air is taken in through a special double chimney outside the building. Combustion products are also removed through it. A powerful fan is responsible for removing smoke and sucking in air, and the rotation speed can be adjusted.

Attention! Models of dual-circuit atmospheric boilers must be installed in ventilated areas, so that they do not experience a lack of air. Devices with a closed combustion chamber are suitable for any house in which it is possible to bring out a coaxial chimney beyond the nearest wall.

Principles of using combustion products

If we consider double-circuit boilers from the point of view of the use of combustion products, it is worth noting that Convection models are more common. This option is different in that when the gas burns, the released energy, together with hot air flows, rushes to the heat exchanger, after which it is transferred to the liquid, which passes through the circuits. The combustion products are discharged through the chimney.

Condensing gas boilers have the most efficient operation. During the combustion of fuel, water vapor is formed, carrying thermal energy. In this case, it passes through the heat exchanger and cools down up to +56°С.

Following this, air flows enter the chamber with the economizer, where the steam that forms during gas combustion condenses. During this process steam gives off energy to the circuits through which water flows, used for domestic and heating needs. Condensate accumulates in a special container and is discharged into the sewer.

Heat exchanger design

Double-circuit gas boilers can have separate heat exchangers, one of which is primary, used to heat water in the heating system. And the secondary is needed for hot water used for domestic needs.

Bithermal models are distinguished by the fact that the water for hot water supply and heating is heated in one heat exchanger. It is equipped with metal plates that are located between the coils. Thanks to them, the area increases, which directly affects the efficiency of heating.

Recommendations for selection

When choosing a double-circuit gas boiler, It is necessary to pay attention to the following characteristics:

  • brand and manufacturer;
  • the level of comfort it can provide;
  • chimney device;
  • installation capacity;
  • possibility of automatic control.

Once the performance of specific models is clear, you can make the optimal choice.

When operating gas double-circuit boilers, it is necessary from time to time it is necessary to carry out preventive measures, not only to extend their service life, but also to ensure their perfect functioning.

The following recommendations exist:

  1. A cold liquid inlet is placed in the boiler mechanical filter that minimizes contamination of the heat exchanger. It needs to be cleaned and changed regularly, taking into account the type of filter.
  2. In order to reduce the rate of scale formation on the heat exchanger, it is best to use water with a set hot temperature. no more than 40°C - 45°C.
  3. Experts recommend cleaning the heat exchanger once every 2 - 7 years. The specific period depends on the hardness and amount of water used, the set temperature. If the water is quite hard, it is advisable to clean the heat exchanger once every 3 years.

Thanks to such manipulations, the service life of devices can be significantly extended.

Buderus gas boiler: what is it

German company Buderus produces floor and wall gas boilers. This brand produces simple gas and combined devices, the latter are capable of operating both on gas (main or liquefied) and on liquid fuel (for example, on diesel).

The devices have power from 9 kW to 1.2 MW and are ideal for installation in an apartment or private house.

Final words

Based on the above and knowing what types of double-circuit gas boilers there are, their operating principle and operating features, as well as observing the installation rules according to the instructions included with each model, It is possible to create a heating system in which the organization of water supply will be at the highest level.

    The article says that dual-circuit boilers have a short service life, but I disagree. With proper maintenance and timely cleaning, the boiler works for a long time. Our dual-circuit Biasi Rinnova served us for 8 years, then the pump system failed, we replaced it with another one. But we were very happy with its work. And as for the fact that when you turn on the hot water, cold water comes out of the tap first - yes, there is such a thing, but it takes less than a minute of waiting, 10-15 seconds, no more.

    For heating a private house, a double-circuit gas boiler is probably the best option. I have had a double-circuit gas boiler "NAVIEN" from the very beginning for 8 years now, it is quite compact and takes up little space, fits even in a built-in kitchen cabinet and is not visible, since it is attached directly to the wall. In addition to heating the house, it also provides us with completely hot water. And for all this, it consumes relatively little gas. It has many advantages, but there is nothing ideal, it also has a number of disadvantages: and this is that it only works when there is electricity, it has an electric gas ignition, and it is stuffed with electricity. This is a fan and a thermostat, all this is of course very convenient during its operation, but it does not work when the power is turned off. Of course, it is equipped with an accumulator, which maintains the operation of the boiler for a certain time while the power is out, but it is enough for about 1 hour, then it must be charged again.
