Scientific and technical progress does not stand still. First of all, this concerns the improvement of living conditions, in particular, heating systems.

A visual result of scientific and technical developments - PLEN heating. This system is fundamentally different from everything that was presented on the market until recently.

Energy-saving heating PLEN: what is it, principles of operation

Photo 2

PLEN - heating system, based on the use of physical processes of heat exchange. The effect is compared to the warmth of the sun. It has a multi-layer structure.

Between two layers of lavsan films a special aluminum foil with a reflective surface is placed between layers of foil — resistive elements. The thickness of the film heaters is 1-1.2 mm.

Lavsan films perform two functions electrical insulating and decorativeWhen the system is connected to the network, electric current flows to electric heaters that heat the foil, which reflects infrared waves of length 9.4 micrometers. These waves are invisible to the human eye, but are easily felt as heat. As a result of heat exchange between the PLEN surface and the decorative covering (floor, ceiling or wall), the heat spreads throughout the entire room.

The maximum temperature that electric heaters reach is 45 °C. Thanks to this PLEN is considered one of the safest heating systems.

Film electric heaters act as both primary and additional heating. Films can be installed on any flat surface both horizontal and vertical and even inclined. Due to its features, PLEN maintains a feeling of warmth and coziness in the house.

Technical specifications

The parameters of the PLEN are given in the table:

Indicator Characteristics Declared data
Material Heater Special alloy
Insulation Three-layer PET
Reflector Aluminum
Weight 1 m. square 550 g
Thickness - 0.4 mm
Temperature, max. - 45 °C
Power consumption - 150-175 W/m. square
Efficiency - 98%
Service life - >50 years

Depending on the height of the room, the power is selected. This is due to the fact that part of the radiation is dissipated in the air, as a result of which the heat rising from below will not reach the target. Manufacturers recommend at a height of up to 3 m use PLEN power 125 watts per square meter. In other cases - 150 W per square meter.

Recommendations for choosing a system

For ease of installation, films are available in various lengths and widths. Length varies from 1 to 5 meters, and the width is 35-65 cm.

The films are mounted approximately 80% ceiling surface. The area of the occupied floor depends on the amount of furniture. It is not advisable to install a heating system under upholstered and cabinet furniture, since there will be no natural heat exchange with the air.

And also The efficiency of film heaters is affected by climatic conditionsIf the home is located in a windy climate, a more powerful heating system should be chosen, since heat loss will be significant in this case.

Important! Before installing the PLEN system take care of the thermal insulation of the room. All surfaces should be insulated - the floor, ceiling, walls, insulate windows and doors, and in a private house - the roof and basement. Otherwise, the operation of the PLEN will be associated with high electricity costs.

Advantages and disadvantages of infrared heating

TO advantages film heating include:

Photo 4

  • Easy to install.
  • Saving money. Based on data from manufacturers, the payback period for a system with regular operation in moderate climate conditions is only one year.
  • Safety. Since the maximum heating temperature only 45 °C, the risk of fire is practically excluded. Of course, this does not apply to force majeure situations, such as a short circuit. However, with proper installation and operation, the probability of a short circuit is practically zero.
  • PLEN takes up little space. If when using radiators you have to rack your brains over where to install them and how to decorate them, then PLEN eliminates this need. Heaters are installed under the decorative covering of the floor, ceiling and walls, and therefore the space in the room is used rationally.
  • Maintaining an acceptable level of air humidity, ease of use, automation and fine-tuning.
  • Environmentally friendly.
  • No odors.
  • Long service life.

There are no ideal things in the world, and therefore the PLEN heating system has a number of disadvantages. The main disadvantage is Preparing the premises for installation film heaters. Before installing the system, the room must be insulated.

Attention! Surface of the PLEH no painting, plastering or wallpapering allowed wallpaper. An intermediate layer of plasterboard, chipboard or other materials is required. It is desirable that the decorative coating has a lattice structure and ideally covers no more than 50% of films.

Price

Depending on the technical characteristics of the PLEN, their cost is given in the table:

Name Degree of protection Price 1 sq. m./rub
PLEN No. 1 "Premium" for ceiling IP-67 1300
PLEN No. 1 "Economy" for the ceiling IP-54 1200
PLEN No. 2 for underfloor heating IP-67 1100
PLEN for saunas, for industrial processes IP-67 1400
PLEN No. 3 (universal) - 1200
PLEN No. 4 (universal) - 1400
PLEN No. 5 (portable sauna) - 12 thousand

IP-67 - indicates a full level of protection of film heaters from dust, as well as the possibility of immersing the heater in water to a depth up to 1 m.

IP-54 — means partial protection from dust. If a small amount of moisture or dust gets in, the system's performance will not be affected.

Installation of PLEN

Manufacturers claim that radiant heater films can be installed on any surface. However, Traditionally they are mounted to the floor or ceiling.

Important! Before installing the heating system it is necessary to install a heat-insulating layer, since otherwise the floors will heat up, which will lead to unnecessary heat loss. The heat-insulating layer can be any, preferably with a reflective surface.

Films are attached directly to the thermal insulation layer or on the lathing. Self-tapping screws or a construction stapler are used for fastening.

Installation location

Much depends on the choice of installation location. Particular attention should be paid places near door and window openings, since this is where the greatest heat losses occur. The area occupied by the PLEN is determined depending on the climatic conditions of residence.

In moderate climates, the heating system requires about 60%If the climate is cold and windy, the area should be not less than 80%. Ideally, PLEN plays an additional role in such a climate. In a warm climate, it is enough to allocate for the film heating system no more than 50% of the room area.

Preparation

Photo 6

Before installing the heating system, it is necessary to carefully check the integrity of all elements.

The condition of the outer layer of the films is determined visually. should not have any scratches or tears.

Integrity of heating elements checked with a testerAs a rule, there are no defective elements on sale, but during transportation, in particular, to the installation site, various incidents could occur.

The installation process

Before installation, make sure that all wires have an exit on one side and are directed towards the distribution board. Each sheet of the heating system has special installation zones.

Attention! The fastening of the sheets takes place precisely in these fields. It is forbidden to violate the integrity of the PLEN sheets outside the assembly zones, since This is fraught with unpleasant consequences.

Before installing the system, stock up on tools and materials. You will need:

  • PLEN sheets;
  • construction stapler or self-tapping screws;
  • aluminum tape;
  • stationery knife;
  • soldering iron;
  • thermal insulation.

First, a heat-insulating layer with a reflective surface is attached to a properly prepared installation site. The heat-insulating sheets are tightly joined together. The joints between them are carefully glued. with aluminum tape.

Reference. Cut the insulation sheets in as large pieces as possible. This will eliminate a large number of joints and, as a consequence, large heat losses.

Within the installation zones, PLEN sheets are attached to the heat-insulating layer using a construction stapler or self-tapping screws. The step between the staples is about 0.3 m. Wires must come out on one side.

When the entire planned area is covered with heating system sheets, the wires between the individual sheets are soldered together. The usual insulation is used for the soldering point. electrical tape or a piece of insulation from a thick cable. In the second case, the insulation is heated to ensure a tight fit.

Installing the thermostat and connecting it to the panel

The wires are connected to the panel via a modular contactor. The type of input depends on the power of the installed system. In private houses, the total power does not exceed 5 kW, Therefore, a single-phase input is used. In production or large rooms, a three-phase input is used. The thermostat is installed on the heat-insulating layer at a height of about 150 cm for the ceiling or at a height of 30 cm, if the PLEN is installed on the floor.

When installing the system on the floor, the thermostat can be built directly into the floor, under the decorative covering.

    I also installed PLEN on the floors in my house and was convinced that this type of heating is good to use in apartments where there is already central heating. My floors with this heating are certainly warm, the price of their installation was certainly not expensive, but the heating itself is too expensive for me, especially since it cannot be considered full-fledged heating for the house, it can only be considered as additional heating. Therefore, I had to install additional and water heating. At the same time, for some reason I did not notice any additional stimulation for health from PLEN. My friend has warm floors made from water heating, the effect is the same, although they are warmer than mine with PLEN.
