Making DIY Accessories

Among the craftsmen there are those who made the necessary tools for cooking dishes with their own hands. For this, they use stainless steel, reinforcement, and a welding machine.

Suspensions

Hangers are needed for cooking fatty meat and fish. It is made at home from the frying pan. Four stainless steel rods are attached to it, and corners are attached to the rods. Everything is screwed together with nuts or secured with a welding machine. When frying meat, water is poured into the pan so that the fat does not burn. Vegetables can also be put there.

Skewers and "Christmas tree"

The skewers are used in the oven on their own or are welded into a “Christmas tree”.

They are made from stainless steel sheet, thickness 3 mm. They cut it with a grinder strips 1.5 cm width. The length of the future product depends on the size of the oven, but on average, the working end will be 50 cm.

The edges of the strips are cleaned of burrs. On one side, ring, by which the skewer will be attached in the tandoor. The working end of the skewer is sharpened.

For "Christmas trees" will be needed saucepan or another suitable one deep frying pan.

The size of the "tree" is determined by the diameter of the tandoor. The handles and ears are cut off from the saucepan. The skewers are connected to the stainless steel rod by welding or bolts. The design fasten in the center pots, cutting the threads.

Shelf

They are making a rack for a tandoor made of steel. A filled shelf is heavy, so it is important to use strong fasteningsTo make the device at home, you need steel reinforcement, grinder and welding machineThe product should be slightly smaller in height than the inner part of the oven.

Important! The lower tier should not touch the bottom of the tandoor and should be located above it. at a height of 10 cm.

First, the reinforcement is welded round or triangular frames, weld them to two rods. Next, assemble the gratings for the resulting frames and fasten the parts. Place the lower tier fat collection container, the rest are used for cooking.

Lattice and "sun"

Reinforcement bars are used as independent devices on hangers.

A structure is made for convenient placement of skewers "Sun". Rebar rod bend into a circle shape, make fasteners and weld everything. Skewers are hung on the structure during shashlik preparation.

Thermometer

For an oriental stove, a thermometer is used that works in its operating temperature rangeThere are two options for their production - 0-250°C and 0-500°C. The device is mounted in the lid and is needed to control the heat inside the tandoor. Knowing the temperature indicator allows you to determine the timeliness of laying products, the possibility of simultaneously preparing another dish. Chefs empirically determine in which mode the food turns out tastier.

We took a cover made of thin polyester fabric, with a clasp. In my opinion, such a cover only slightly retains heat, mainly it serves as a means of protection from rain, moisture, dust, and so on.
It is best to take a two-layer cover, it is more functional. The outer layer is made of Oxford fabric, you can choose any color, a fairly large color range. And the inner layer is made of tarpaulin. This provides additional thermal insulation of the oven and the tandoor is even very warm the next day, you do not have to warm it up for a long time.

I would like to note that tandoor accessories are quite easy to wash and clean after use. When buying, it is important to pay attention to the composition of the alloy. If the tandoor Christmas tree is too light, it will quickly fail, the rods will begin to bend. The same applies to the pot or plate under the tree. If it is made of very soft metal, over time it will begin to bubble due to temperature changes, the product will become covered with corrosion and the top layer may even peel off. So do not save on such things.
As for the grates for the tandoor, it is best to choose two-tiered ones. They should also be made of heavy, durable metal.
If you can make the Christmas tree and the grate yourself or order them from a craftsman, then it is best to buy the tandoor cookware in a specialized store or on the Internet.

In the tandoor I also cook shashlik on skewers, for this I install a ring like the sun as shown in the article, only mine rests on the neck not just reinforcement but a second ring the size of the neck. And the inner ring, on which I then hang the skewers, is connected to the outer one with small pieces of metal rod. And this ring is also connected to the tray, which is at a depth equal to the length of the skewer. The meat on the skewers is well fried and has never fallen off the skewer, pieces of meat even somehow stick to the skewer and I then remove them only with a fork, which even bends sometimes.

In my tandoor, shashlik is also cooked on skewers, they are located vertically. Only I do not put one skewer at a time, but first I cook everything outside, then I install them in a specially made cartridge made of reinforcement with a stainless steel tray installed at the bottom and immediately place everything in the oven, and take out the entire cartridge at once. And this is even more convenient when removing the finished shashlik, and it is easier to put one cartridge than to lower each skewer there. In principle, this cartridge is like a Christmas tree, only the skewers with meat are then removed from the cartridge separately.
